Leadership

John came to Elon to serve as our lead pastor back in 2025.  John's married to Lynn who's originally from Chesapeake while John grew up among a farm family in North Mississippi.  John and Lynn have been blessed with 4 kids.  John is a graduate of Mississippi State University (Go Bulldogs) and received a Masters of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

They are excited to be a part of what God is doing in and through Elon Baptist Church as together we serve Him from Pamplin to all nations!

Jeremy, came to Elon as a pastoral intern in January 2014 and has stayed on, first serving as a pastoral assistant and now as one of our pastors at Elon.  Jeremy grew up locally and graduated from Appomattox High School.  He has finished his undergraduate studies in Finance and Bible at Liberty University and has Masters  degree from Southeastern Seminary in Wake Forest, NC.

Jeremy is married to Kristin, a nurse with Centra as well a clinical preceptor at Liberty University, and they have been blessed with three sons, and two daughters. 

Dave Sexton came to Elon in December 2020 to serve a two-year internship with Elon while continuing his education at Rawlings School of Divinity.  Dave, a computer programmer and Courtney, one of our church musicians, are proud parents of four children: Katelyn, Adele (Della), Davey, and Clare. 

Susan serves in many different capacities at Elon, including as our administrative assistant. Susan and her husband Bruce are residents of Pamplin City and have attended Elon for many years.  Susan retired as the Media Specialist (Librarian) at Appomattox County Middle School.  She brings her years of educational experience to her Sunday School Class every Sunday as well as coordinates the church's Relay for Life team. Her three grandchildren keep her hopping if she ever gets free time!
